Best Mid- Tier Jacket

I admit im an AStars fan boy. However, their jackets fit me better and offer more features and protection than most other brands. Typically in this class, you're looking for a jacket that does commuter duty and hard street riding. And, this jacket can do both. It has an aggressive type fit with good armor and has outside and two inside pockets. For me, this is critical for a commuter jacket. Unlike Dianese, their D1 racing jacket only has one inside pocket, which isn't waterproof nor does it have chest protector pockets. I have to move up to a race hump to get chest protection in Dianese and I still only get the one inside pocket. Even my Atem race jacket has two inside pockets and still keeps the chest pockets. This is definitely a more aggressive fit than the GP Plus R and it might be that better commuter leather jacket but, it won't have that snug fit for aggressive street riding. I'm 5ft 10 inches tall, 209 lbs. with a 45 inch chest and the size 58 was spot on with the chest and back armor inside. It's very snug but, not race fit right out of the box. After a few days of hot rides, it should be perfect for my tastes. Overall a great jacket if you don't need the sport hump.
FANTASTIC JACKET AND SERVICE

Purchased this jacket in the black w/ high viz accents and I am in LOVE! Terrific product with plenty of venting for those hot days. Definitely must upgrade the back and chest armor for a minimal price to give you complete piece of mind.
Sizing: I am 5'7" and 189Lbs with a bigger chest and shoulders and the 52 euro/42 US fits perfectly. Closer to a race fit which I prefer. If I wanted more room and went to a 54 euro I think there would be to much length in the arms and It wouldn't fit as well.
Needless to say this jacket is amazing quality and fits exactly how I wanted it to. Thanks to STG for a fantastic buying experience as always!

I bought this same exact jacket about 5 yrs ago. I also ordered a taichi arrow. I went down in a low side at about 40-50mph with the a*. The jacket was barely touched. The quality is very good and it is very comfortable. However, it is not as cool (venting) as the taichi arrow which i ordered instead this year. I am getting a little heavier now and had a size 52. I gave that to my son and i am now a 54 in this. I am 5'10 185 (on a good day). I can still fit into the (broken in) 52 but its a little tight (light shirt only). I know these arent made to fit clothes under and are supposed to be tight, but i live in ny and sometimes you get those chilly nights. I was also looking for something that isnt so "flashy". The taichi logos dont stand out which i like (black). STG told me that the taichi is better quality leather when i called to talk to them about my purchase. They definetely feel different. But, I like both. One is just a different texture. The interior stitching seems to me like its a Tiny bit better on the a*s, but im no tailor. Only time will tell .STG is awesome cust. service!
Couldnt be happyer

Went into the store, the staff was very knowledgeable about riding gear, wasn't looking to spend this much but spend the money once, cry once. Glad I went with this jacket, out riding on an 80 degree day, I was more than comfortable as long as I was moving.
GP-R + STG = Awesome!

My review is going to sound a lot like the one from (Darkform).
Firstly - props to Evan @ STG for taking a lot of time to answer all my emails and listen to my needs/requirements. You can really tell when the person on the other end actually cares about the customer! I've purchased other items from STG before and every experience has been first-rate.
I am 5'9" tall, 162 pounds, 39" chest, 32" waist, athletic build. I ordered a size 50Euro/40US. I want the jacket to be just a little on the tight side with a lightweight base layer for cold weather, but be perfect in a T-shirt. When I first got it, I was just a little concerned with the fit in the arms/shoulders, but it is breaking in nicely and feeling better every time I wear it. I believe the resulting fit is spot-on. I think the video could go into a little more detail and show just how much the stretch panels work with your body. The material is designed to keep the jacket snug against your body and will actually expand a LOT. I put on a thick thermal base layer and had my wife watch me stretch/twist/expand to see if the jacket was too small. It was very surprising to see that I was not making the stretch material expand as much as I thought it was. She would just laugh and tell me I had a lot of extra room if needed. So if you buy one and think it's too tight, have a partner check it out while you move around, it's difficult to tell the difference between just not being broke in to being too small.
I am used to RS Taichi products so the bar was set very high. This GP-R perf leather jacket does not give up much, if anything, to RS Taichi. The photos and video do not do this jacket justice. It is made from pretty stout leather, you can feel the heft when you handle it, but once on, you won't notice it. All the stitching looks good, with no loose threads. The video does a very good job describing the product. I have the White/Black/Red color scheme and it just "pops". I look fast just standing still, lol! This is a nice jacket that you will be proud to wear.
The back protector that comes with it is not that great - order a CE replacement. This goes for most all jackets, although I've seen far better (non CE) back pads in cheaper jackets. Fortunately, you have a lot of options with replacement pads - take advantage of them.
GP-R Perforated Leather Jacket
Posted by Darkform on 16th Jul 2015
I purchased this jacket near the end of April 2015 and I want to provide my impressions. Firstly, the customer service at Sportbike Trackgear is first rate. I say this without reservation. Shipping was fast and I had jacket in hand in just a few days.
Quality: I upgraded to this jacket from a Powertrip US Army textile jacket. The quality of the GP-R is top notch and pictures dont do it justice. I have received many compliments on this jacket. The leather is thick and the attention to detail is high. I have had no issues with any of the components of this jacket. One could reasonably expect this jacket to do its job if you ever came off your bike.
Sizing: I am 5'8", 165 lbs, athletic build, and I normally wear a size 40-41 US but opted for the 42 in order to have a little more room in the jacket and also to be able to layer up in the cooler months. The jacket still retained that tight race fit and does not feel loose or sloppy. I was able to wear two layers under the jacket without it feeling tight or restricting movement. I do not think that would have been the case if I had ordered the size 40.
Comfort: At first the jacket is a little stiff and binding. After a couple of weeks however, the jacket broke in and is now very comfortable. This is a heavy piece of gear, but when worn you do not notice the weight. The elastication in the back allows freedom of movement in any position. The stretch panels along the sides and in the arms also permitted the jacket to slightly expand and I think this was a major contributing factor that allowed me to wear two base layers underneath. The GP-R flows a lot of air. Although I have only ridden in the mid to upper 80's, I did not feel like I was getting baked. If you are sitting still you are going to get hot, the same as you would wearing any other black jacket in the sun. Once you start moving however, you can feel the air through the perforations on the front and the stretch panels in the arms. There was one other unexpected benefit with this jacket over my textile. At higher interstate speeds I did not feel as though I was being buffeted by the wind as much. This may be due to the heavy weight and closer fit of the jacket. In any event, it resulted in a more comfortable riding experience and reduced fatigue.
If I had to point out any negative aspect of the jacket it would be the size of the outside pockets. I can still carry the same items I carried in my textile but these pockets are stuffed to the zipper. And you will feel anything you place in the inside pockets. This is not unexpected when wearing a race fit jacket. Its not a big deal, you'll get used to it.
Overall, you will be very pleased if you purchase this jacket.
