I will admit the upper end price tag for these boots threw me off at first, but the over all comfort of these are incredible took a trip with friends to Tennessee to ride the tail of tbe dragon i spent 3 days in these boots (at least 8 hours straight) both riding and walking and not once did I have an issue with comfort or over heating so the ventilation works as advertised too. The protection is also top notch. Both myself and a friend on this same trip laid our bike down my boots made it out with some scuffs and scratches but his saved his ankle during his fall the bike hopped a bit and the rearset went through the leather but the armor underneath stopped the rearset from going through his ankle he walked away with a bruise ankle and maybe a bruised ego lol. In my opinion the high price tag is pennies compared to what mine or his medical bills would have been if I was not wearing the proper gear so if the only thing I can find negatively about these boots is the price then something is being done right about the quality.

Background: new to track riding in late 2015. First boot purchased was a Sidi ST boots. I did not like those boots. Difficult to put on, while they fit my foot they felt overly adorned in an attempt to provide safety. Just felt like I was wearing something large on my feet. I then purchased these boots and the Dainese Axial Pro-In boots at the same time. I like both of the new boots better than the Sidi ST. I have little trouble putting on the Supertech Rs. The inner bootie is easy to put on and lace up, then I put my foot into the outer shell and it's a simple zip to close. These are way better than the Sidi ST in terms of walking in the paddock. I recommend.

Supertech boots are the best of the best. Unmatched in terms of comfort and feel on the bike. No external bracing means no snagging on rearsets (I'm looking at you, SIDI). Tough, durable, comfortable. Love em love em love em.

I've used these boots at about 15 track days. Very happy with fit, comfort, and function. The internal boot liner string frayed and broke. They replaced this under warranty, but you have to do some sewing so this is a bit of a pain (deducted one star)

In terms of protection I am very happy. My issue is regarding feel on the shifter and the step in the footbed making shifting my foot forward and back a little less precise.

The shifter feel is much less due to the inner boot protection making it feel like I have 3 wool socks on. In terms of shifting my foot forward and back the heel is stepped so it doesn't allow seamless foot movement.

It has been 15+ years since I was last racing so I am comparing them to much older alpinestars.

A note from STG:
15 years ago the boots were much more basic, especially when the new boot is as advanced as the Supertech R. Older (or mare basic in design) boots would offer more feel and comfort with less protection. This is a great point, thanks for the review! - Van

8. Protection and Comfort

I'm a relatively new rider. I've gone from a 500cc to a 1000cc supersport in 3 years. I don't do track duty. However, I want the best protection for this 46 year old body. And, it's been pretty much trial and error on which boots can deliver the right fit and protection. I have top shelf TCX, Cortech, Sidi and Dainese boots in my pile. Brian's reviews are spot on as always and each boot has its strengths and weaknesses. So, I just tried them all. Here is my takeaway on the Supertech Rs. Hands down the most comfortable boot out of all the rest. The Dainese would come in a close second. However, I have a wide foot and my regular shoe size is 11.5 EE forcing me to go up a size on the other brands. So, off the bat I'm working with an extra half inch of air at the toe, reducing feel. Now for the protection. The Sidi Vortice offers the most protection but, my foot feels disconnected as compared to Supertech Rs. Having the protection closer to your actual foot brings back the feeling and the boot vents well. For me it came to the Dainese or the Supertech Rs and I wanted a little more boot height than the more streamlined Dainese. Another factor that came in later was the fact that I have two AStars race suits, 4 AStars jackets and the AStars Track Pants. At this point, it made cosmetic sense just to stick with AStars boots and complete the look.

These were a recommendation from Dalton and I'm glad I listened. I'm a long time Dainese guy. I still prefer their race suits, but their boots were always too snug. The A-stars just fit properly and feel fluid.
The fact they look great is just an added bonus! :)
