1. 1 year review!!!
This jacket is amazing. Absolutely amazing. To start off with i'm 5,11 and 140 pounds. I got the size 48 EU in this jacket and ended up selling it to my girlfriend because it didn't quite fit me length wise and since the gmx motion went on sale I ended up getting one of those. If I could get the arrow again (let me rephrase that, I will get it again) I would get it in a size 50. Use the size chart, its spot on! But I still rode in this jacket for over a year before selling it so I decided to give it a quick review.
To start with I ride an 03 R1 and 06 CBR 600RR year round, rain or shine, night or day, cold and hot and got the all black version of this jacket. Absolutely stunning in looks and fits my bikes and helmets perfectly! I live in the SF Bay Area and ride year round so I meet and see hundreds of riders. I absolutely love riding and walking past riders whom wear dainese and alpinestars and getting death glares because my jacket is muuuuuch better looking!!!! :D Seriously this jacket looks amazing and few people wear taichi so its really got that unique factor going for it, compared to the endless lines of people wearing dainese and a*stars.
This jacket on top of its looks feels amazing as well. It works well with a backpack and has tons of stretch panels which make commuting to work and school and weekend rides with friends on my bikes so much easier because I am never uncomfortable in it. The leather is top notch, the stitching after a year of heavy use and abuse still shows no signs of even remotely coming undone or fraying and the armor is always secure. This brings me to the next point. The cost.. Yeah the jacket costs a lot but you're getting a genuine competition weight leather jacket with a full armor package (including back protection, beat that Dainese!!!) at a cost that other manufacturers would charge a few hundred more for. Also the jacket is fully perfed, and moves tons of air so there's never an excuse not to ride in it and looks and feels so awesome you can damn near wear it anywhere.
Be aware though that because it is a fully perf leather jacket it does get quite cold so starting midway through October until about March and even with layering it becomes unusable (at least for me) because its just to cold. However most sport leather jackets aren't made to be cold weather riding jackets so this hardly counts as a con. I will also say that the wind stop liner, at least for me, doesn't work well because this jacket flows far to much air. However a light thin hoodie on top of the liner fixes this for me. There is so much stretch that it makes layering quite easy. During the summer though......that perf is so awesome. I've ridden in 100 degree plus heat and while it still is hot as long as you're moving you'll be fine.
This jacket really does fit like a second skin. It moves with you, is very thick and if I were to ever go down in it, I know for a fact it would protect me. The leather is 1.4mm thick and it is genuine leather that is properly put together and constructed to a top notch standard. (not like the weird methods dainese uses on its jackets. Tutu leather...seriously guys?) I previously have had two accidents while wearing an alpinestars celer jacket and the gmx arrow is much much higher quality than that so it would protect far more. Honestly just get this jacket. You will not regret it. Use the size chart because it fits exactly like the size chart says. You will not regret it. I just cant reiterate that enough (Just make sure its the right size. It was a little to short for me though I still rocked the hell out of it!!!)
One last thing though, the shoulder sliders scratch incredibly easily. It never bothered me but if you are one of those people who get agitated by scratches then just be aware, the shoulders will scuff easily iand while this in no way affects the jacket protection wise, just a heads up. I will however say that my friend owns a gmx motion jacket and one of the great things about this gmx arrow jacket is that since the shoulder sliders no longer feature the air intake system, the leather around the shoulder will not get bunched up like the previous model was prone to do. Also this jacket doesn't have screen printing on its forearm like the motion did which is great because the screen printing does eventually fall off or begin to peel especially if you are caught in the rain with it. Buy this jacket, its one of those things that will pay for itself in the long run. STG is amazing in its return policy so if for some weird reason you don't like it you can return it as long as its unused. The whole process is hassle free as is par on course for STG. Also a big shout out to STG for carrying Taichi, I looked a long time to find one of these jackets available from a reputable company that I could trust, so props to you guys and gals!
