Just purchased this glove to replace my alpinestars sp2 gloves and these are a tremendous upgrade. Very nice stitching and great comfort without even breaking them in yet. I'm a huge fan of held after this purchase. Size was also exact to what I had measured.

Nice glove. Size was a bit too big and did not offer the protection I was looking for since I only needed a dedicated race glove. Swapped them for the Evo's

Ok let's start right in with the negatives on these gloves:
1. They make all other gloves have an inferiority complex.
2. Since they come in 6 colors, after you get a pair you're going to wreck your brain trying to figure out how to justify owning at least 2 more variations.
In all seriousness, I don't know how they can get any better. I guess they aren't rainproof (no Goretex liner) but I'm not sure they would breathe the same if so.
As far as I can tell, the major reasons these are so amazing are:
1. They are made by the famous German company Held which puts so much time and attention into hand crafting each pair. You can watch some Youtubes on how they obsess over quality. So with my Helds, I never have those annoying imperfect seams that rub my fingers, or stray threads that annoy me while riding, or anything like that.
2. There have been previous iterations of this design --the company has experience that shows up in little improvements in these, like the way the hard knuckle 'floats' without digging in to the back of your hand, and the way the leather is pre-curved and requires virtually no break-in.
3. I like that Helds are available in small increment sizes and half-sizes. Some other brands just go by S, M, L etc and they just don't nail the fit spot on. I know this probably seems like a pain, having to go find a tape and measure exactly your hand but I now have several Helds over time, and once you dial in your size, you can always get the right fit.
If I could own only one pair of gloves for year round riding, these would be it. They are probably best described as 3 season (outside of California!) so you might want something warmer in the winter, and they aren't designed for downpour--they still work but the water eventually seeps through.

I have worn Held gloves for the past 15 years. The last set of gloves were the original Phantom lasted and performed quite well in usage and a crash. They finally wore out. I purchased the Phantom II and find it is even better. Great fit and the high sensitivity of feel allows one to know what is going on with the bike and track surface. Worth every cent I paid.

I have both the Phantom 2 and Knox Handroid gloves. I feel the Handroid`s would protect my hands better in a crash. The Phantom gauntlet does not fit over my jacket cuff as well as the Handroid. I would talk to the STG staff for a real opinion on crash protection since I have not crashed in either glove. I feel the Knox Handroid is the better value.

The gloves fit well. I have a wider hand and shorter fingers. Provides a good feel on the handle bars as well as clutch / brake lever. They vent well while riding. The gauntlet does not fit over a riding jacked [dainese] but will barely attach with my race suit.
