This review is long overdue.
I bought this jacket because cooler weather was approaching. I rise a ZX14 so I am pretty exposed to the elements. My previous jacket served me well but it was time to replace it. So here it is, the good, the bad and the the ugly.
Appearance & Style: This is a very nice looking jacket, looks better in person than in the photos. Attention to detail and quality are top notch. I have to also mention that the reflective areas are very bright. My wife took a picture of me in the jacket and the reflection from the flash just about whited out the picture. Everyone has complemented on what a nice jacket it is.
Protection: The jacket comes with CE rated shoulder and elbow protectors, I added a Nucleon KR-1 back protector. You should get a back protector, the little foam pad that it comes with will not protect you. The elbow protectors extend down the forearm a good distance, so all of your critical impact areas are covered. The fabric of the jacket appears pretty flimsy however its made of a 450D poly fabric. 450D is characterized by excellent strength, durability, tear and abrasion resistance, dimensional stability, & UV and mildew resistance. You get good protection without a lot of added weight.
Fit and Comfort: Im 5'8" 165lbs. I ordered a size 52 and its fits perfectly. Not too lose, not too snug. I am still able to wear another base layer comfortably, as long as its not too thick. The stretch panels on the back allow me to ride comfortably in any position. As I purchased this for cooler weather, I have not worn it without the liner. The full sleeve liner is warm enough to ride in the 50's without any additional layering. If you ride in the 40's, especially on a sportbike, you will want to wear some baselayer. I was also able to test this jacket in the rain. Rain and 44 degrees. I did not get cold, I did not get wet. At least not in the areas the jacket covered. Rain ran of the jacket and into the crotch of my jeans and down the sleeves into the inside of my gloves. Gotta remember to tuck those gloves in. And wear waterproof pants.
There really are not many cons. I wish the jacket came with a CE certified back protector for more protection. But even without the back protector, the jacket is an excellent value. I am not how the jacket will survive a get off, although I am sure it will protect me.
Overall this is an excellent high end jacket that looks good, provides good protection from falls and the elements, and is an excellent value. You will not be disappointed.
